As a mom of a two year old, I know how precious your baby's nap time can be. Whether you are a new mom in desperate need of sleep, or the parent of a toddler whose house looks like a bomb hit it, that time is precious and well deserved.

I can remember the first months when my daughter was napping, I had intentions of getting things done. I would patiently await her nap time with grand plans of doing the dishes, vacuuming, napping, or even showering, but the protective mom in me would kick in and I felt nervous being far away from my daughter for too long. I spent so much time trying to decipher the strange sounds coming out of my baby monitor, and panicking if I couldn't hear her that I was a nervous wreck.

I had purchased one of the more traditional baby monitors after gasping at the prices of some of the more high tech ones.  I couldn't believe the amount people Search Market Sharewere spending on what I thought to be a ridiculous and useless luxury. So, I went with the lower priced $29.99 special and called it a day. I set the monitor up in my baby's room and made sure it was plugged in, and that I always had batteries for it just in case of a power outage. I was prepared, or so I thought.
One day, exhausted and stressed from never having a moment to myself, I looked in the mirror, and then took a look around my house at the mess. I was completely overwhelmed, I couldn't remember the last time I had gotten dressed in anything other than sweat pants or actually put on make-up.   One of my girlfriends had a baby only a few months older than mine but somehow her house was tidy, she was more well-rested, and she had time to do things like gardening and, oh yes, showering!

In a desperate attempt at finding my sanity I called her and asked her how she found the time to do it all. She told me about the summer infant day & night video monitor. She admitted that when her son was younger she struggled with getting things accomplished because she spent so much time listening to his breathing and checking in on him. She told me to come over and see for myself.
I was a bit skeptical at first, but then when I saw her son sleeping peacefully, breathing steadily I was sold. It has a small T.V. screen, night vision, and two channels. The small camera can sit on top of a dresser, or even be attached to the wall. It is easy to adjust the position so that super spy moms like myself can see and hear perfectly. One of my favorite features is that I can push a button to turn the video screen on or off and still have sound at night when I go to sleep, and if I wake in the middle of the night to check on her, all I have to do is turn the video back on. No more having to sneak into her room to see her and trying to close the door without waking her. What's better than being able to check on your child in the middle of the night without having to leave your bed?

I still use mine in my two-year-old daughter's play room as a way to keep a close eye on her without making her feel like I am watching over her shoulder. She is able to gain confidence and a sense of independence, and I have peace of mind.
This truly is the best baby monitor ever! Whenever I go to a baby shower I am sure to buy Summer Infant Day & Night Video Monitor, and I don't feel bad about the price because it is actually one of the more affordable versions.  I know being a new parent can be hard, and I just think that every little thing    that can help make it easier is worth it.

How to choose the best Breastpump

If you are planning to breastfeed your baby, you will most likely need to buy a breast pump. While there are many different kinds out there ranging from the single manual pumps, to the small electric ones, I have found that the Medela Pump in Style Advanced Breast Pump with Backpack is the way to go.

I can honestly say that out of all of the breastpumps I had tried, this was the only one that felt so close to nursing my own baby, which helped a great deal. At first I was using a simple manual pump, and it was so frustrating because I couldn't seem to keep my milk flowing. After that I switched to a small electric single pump, and it was a little bit better, but it seemed to only get my milk flow going for a very short time.  The unnatural feel of  them seemed to make it very difficult for me psychologically.[…]
