The Best Baby Potty Out There!

Baby Bjorn Potty Chair

Potty training is one of the biggest and most important stages in your toddler's life.  It is difficult and time consuming, but I have found that if you have the correct potty to fit yours  and your child's needs, it is much easier on everyone.  I tried out two before I found the one that was right.  They were the Safety 1st Potty 'N Step Stool, and the Baby Bjorn Potty Chair .  While both have their good points, I found that the Baby Bjorn worked much better for us.

Search Market ShareI didn't put much thought into which one I bought the first time.  I never thought it mattered what it looked like, and I was personally appalled by the ones that sing, light up, cheer, or whatever else people have come up with.  Seriously??  A talking toilet?? It seemed a little scary.

My first choice was the Safety 1st Potty 'N Step Stool mainly because I recognized and trusted the safety first name.  I liked the appearance, and that once the child is trained on the potty chair, it comes apart and attaches to your own toilet for a smooth transformation.  I also like that the base of the potty actually becomes a step stool for them to reach the “big potty.”  The seat snaps on and the bowl can easily be slid out for cleaning.  It is compact, and can be stored away easily, and I like that it has it's own little lid just like a real toilet.

What I didn't like was that the first time my daughter sat on it, it tipped forward.  It is fine if the child sits still and doesn't lean, but the slightest shift forward and it comes right out from under them.  I also found that there was a lot of area underneath the seat for bacteria to grow, and it has to be thoroughly cleaned daily.  Also, I have heard from friends with boys that the splash guard is flimsy and falls off often into the toilet.

I purchased the Baby Bjorn Potty Chair because I had read so many great reviews.  I liked that my daughter could pick the color she liked because it comes in quite a few.  It has a high back that is more comfortable for her to sit back while “waiting for it to come out” and there is a rubber bottom so it stays put. (No tipping face first onto the bathroom floor.)

There are only two pieces, the chair and the bowl.  Even the splash guard is attached and won't go anywhere.  Clean-up is very simple because you don't have to check under the seat like with the other potty.  While I did like a lot of the features of the Safety 1st Potty, overall I like the baby bjorn better and my main reason, ironically enough is safety.

As a mom of a two year old, I know how precious your baby's nap time can be. Whether you are a new mom in desperate need of sleep, or the parent of a toddler whose house looks like a bomb hit it, that time is precious and well deserved.

I can remember the first months when my daughter was napping, I had intentions of getting things done. I would patiently await her nap time with grand plans of doing the dishes, vacuuming, napping, or even showering, but the protective mom in me would kick in and I felt nervous being far away from my daughter for too long. I spent so much time trying to decipher […]

How to choose the best Breastpump

If you are planning to breastfeed your baby, you will most likely need to buy a breast pump. While there are many different kinds out there ranging from the single manual pumps, to the small electric ones, I have found that the Medela Pump in Style Advanced Breast Pump with Backpack is the way to go.

I can honestly say that out of all of the breastpumps I had tried, this was the only one that felt so close to nursing my own baby, which helped a great deal. At first I was using a simple manual pump, and it was so frustrating because I couldn't seem to keep my milk flowing. After that I switched to a small electric single pump, and it was a little bit better, but it seemed to only get my milk flow going for a very short time.  The unnatural feel of  them seemed to make it very difficult for me psychologically.[…]
